Description About Garcinia Cambogia Extract
Garcinia gummi-gutta (syn. G. cambogia, G. quaesita) is a subtropical species of Garcinia native to Indonesia also commonly known as Gambooge, Brindleberry, Brindall berry, Malabar tamarind, Kodumpulli (Kerala), or Goraka (Sri Lanka). The yellowish fruit is pumpkin-shaped. It contains potentially hepatotoxic hydroxycitric acid.
Hydroxycitric acid (HCA) is a derivative of citric acid that is found in a variety of tropical plants including Garcinia cambogia and Hibiscus subdariffa. Laboratory and animal studies of HCA have produced results that indicate a potential for modulation of lipid metabolism;consequently HCA is an ingredient in some weight loss products and dietary supplements.
It is indigenous to India and parts of Asia, and an extract from its fruit and rind is popular in many natural weight loss products. The extract is hydroxycitric acid (HCA), claimed to suppress appetite and enhance fat-burning. Animal research supports these claims, but subsequent human trials have been equivocal.
