About S-Adenosyl Methionine (S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine)
S-Adenosyl Methionine has an activated methyl group. It is a coenzyme involved in the methyl transfer reaction, present in all eukaryotic cells. It is enzymatically synthesized from the substrate L-methionine and ATP by S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine Synthetase, EC 2.5.1.6. Studies have shown that regular consumption of S-adenosylmethionine is resistant to depression,liver disease, arthritis and joint pain. Sold in the US market with the name of SAM-e as a nutritional supplement, it has the effect of improving mood, maintaining the liver and comfortable joints.
