About Lac Red:
Lac Red is a natural food additive obtained from the females and eggs of the insect called Coccus lacca, which is parasitic on all kinds of trees,particularly fig trees, indigenous to Asia and India.
Lac Red is very lightfast and heat resisting. It melts at 180°C and decomposes at approx. 230°C.Lac Red may be used for dying of textiles, such as silk, cotton and wool.And it may also be used for oil painting, in shellac varnishes and probably in watercolors.
